마리아 작가는 우크라이나 출신으로 한국에 거주하며 작품활동을 하고 있다.

이방인으로서 겪는 환경과 문화적 차이에서 비롯된 이질감과 모순을 자신에 대한 ’타자화‘를 통해 그만의 예술적 정체성을 찾아가고 있다.
 
이번 전시는 아무런 경계도 차별도 없는 유토피아 속 다양한 여성들의 아름다운 자화상을 통해 전쟁의 고통을 겪고 있는 ’우크라이나 여성‘으로서 모습을 승화시킨 작품을 선보인다.
 
국적과 연령을 가늠할 수 없는 여성들의 절제된 눈빛과 다양한 모습이 담긴 작품을 감상하며 많은 관람자들이 치유 받을 수 있길 바란다.

Gallery Jeon's art agency 'J&Art Platform' will hold a solo exhibition of 'Mariia', who was selected as the artist of the year for [New Artist PROJECT], which is planned every year to discover and grow new artists.
 
Artist Mariia is from Ukraine and lives and works in Korea. She is searching for her own artistic identity through the 'otherising' of herself in the sense of heterogeneity and contradiction stemming from the environmental and cultural differences she experiences as a stranger.
 
This exhibition presents works that sublimate the appearance of 'Ukrainian women' suffering from war through beautiful self-portraits of various women in utopia.​
 
We hope that many visitors can be healed by appreciating the restrained eyes of women of unknown nationality and age and works containing various images.
