Ham Do-Ha
Artist Doha Ham graduated from Hongik University's Master of Wooden Furniture Design and has continued to exhibit a total of 50 individual and group exhibitions at home and abroad. It is also introducing various activities as creators along with popularization, including collaboration with a number of companies such as Porsche, Bodyfriend, Jakomo, Samsung Bespoke, Korean Air, and Walkerhill Vista Hotel.
The artist projects the concept of emotions accompanied by all the actions humans feel, interact, communicate, and experience into an object called furniture, and creates anthropomorphic chair works, hoping that the audience who appreciates the work will feel and exchange emotions other than those presented. Not only the form of furniture, but also patterns, colors, and patterns are used as elements to inspire emotions, and through those elements, the audience can feel various subjective interpretations of the meaning and expression of furniture and feel changes in emotions. It is intended to serve as an opportunity to point out once again that the world seen should be respected, not everything, and to avoid being simply interpreted without the relative perspectives, although each work has set emotions to be expressed in each work. In particular, the chairs that often appear in his works are called "Tom" and "Dona," and they communicate with each other with human-like emotions and interact organically.
함도하 작가는 홍익대 목조형 가구 디자인 석사 졸업하고 국내외 개인 및 그룹전 총 50여 회 전시를 이어오고 있다. 포르쉐, 바디프렌드, 자모코, 삼성비스포크, 대한항공, 워커힐비스타 호텔 등 다수 기업과 협업하는 등 대중적 인기화 함께 크리에이터로서의 다양한 활동도 선보이고 있다.
작가는 인간이 느끼고 교류하고 소통하고 경험하는 모든 행위들에 동반되는 감정이라는 개념을 가구라는 사물에 투영해서 작품을 감상하는 관객이 작가가 제시한 감정 이외의 다른 감정을 느끼고 교류하기를 바라며 의인화된 의자 작품들을 만든다. 가구가 가진 형태 뿐 아니라 문양과 색감, 도안 또한 가구에 감정을 불어 넣는 요소들로서 사용하고, 그러한 요소들을 통해서 관객은 가구가 가진 의미와 표현에 대해 다양한 주관적 해석을 하고 감정의 변화를 느낄 수 있길 바란다. 보이는 세상이 전부가 아닌 다른 사람들의 가지각색인 생각 역시 존중받아야 한다는 점을 다시 한번 짚어보는 계기가 되길 바라는 점에서 의도된 것이며 각 작품에는 표현될 감정을 정했지만, 상대적인 관점들이 빠진 단순히 해석되는 것을 지양한다. 특히, 그의 작품에 자주 등장하는 의자는 ‘Tom’ 과 ‘Dona’ 로 불리며 인간과 같은 감정으로 서로 소통하며 유기적으로 교류한다.
