2022년 대구에서 개인전 이후 작가 특유의 방대한 스펙트럼으로 다양한 작품세계를 선보이고 있는 이상용 작가의 두 번째 전시가 갤러리 전에서 열린다. 첫 번째 전시이후 독창적인 화풍과 깊은 울림을 주는 작품들은 국내외 미술씬과 대중의 관심을 받으며 작품세계를 넓혀 왔다.

이번 전시는 이상용 작품세계의 더욱 진화한 신작들을 함께 선보인다. 아연판에 베토벤의 운명 교향곡을 필사하여 바탕을 만들고 그 위에 드로잉 형식으로 그려낸 ‘악보 시리즈’, 알루미늄판 위에 반투명 종이테이프 처리 후 드로잉을 겹겹이 쌓아가는 ‘테이핑 시리즈‘, 엔틱 벼루를 조각한 ’벼루 시리즈‘ 등 작가의 대표작 및 신작 80여 점(벼루 시리즈 50여점 포함)을 A, B관에서 선보일 예정이다.

특히 ‘악보 시리즈’ 와 '테이핑 시리즈'는 인체 시리즈 연작으로 인체의 모습을 비정형화해 구상과 비구상의 경계에서 작가의 철학적 사고를 표현한 작품이다. 그리고, 작가의 작품세계를 관통하는 본질적인 주제이자 영감의 원천인 '운명'에 대한 깊이 있는 성찰은 보다 다양한 색감으로 연출되며 점, 선, 면의 탁월한 구성과 함께 조형미가 돋보이는 작품들을 선보일 예정이다.

After his first solo exhibition in Daegu in 2022, the second exhibition of artist Lee Sang-yong, who is showing a diverse world of works with his unique vast spectrum, will be held at the gallery Jeon. Since the first exhibition, the artist's unique painting style and deeply moving works have expanded the boundaries of the world of work, receiving attention from the domestic and international art scene and the public.

This exhibition presents new, more advanced works from Lee Sang-yong’s world of work. The 'Music Series', which creates a base by handwriting Beethoven's Symphony no.5 on a zinc plate and drawings on it, the 'Taping Series', which involves layering drawings after treating them with translucent paper tape on an aluminum plate, and the 'Inkstone Series', which are engraved on an antique inkstone. About 80 of the artist's representative works and new works will be showcased in halls A and B.

​In particular, the ‘Music Series’ and ‘Taping Series’ are human firgure series that express the artist’s philosophical thoughts on the border between figuration and non-figuration by atypicalizing the human body. In addition, in-depth reflection on 'fate', the essencail theme and source of inspiration that runs through the artist's world of work, presents a more in-depth world of work with more diverse colors and excellent placement of dots, lines, and panes.
